This is a temporary webpage for Fivespeed. What we'll probably be lacking in cyberness, we'll make up for with updated news directly from the mouth of the band. You see Fivespeed has had a pretty eventful last 2 years. One in which has seen a number of highs mixed with some lows that could have been demoralizing for some, but have only made these guys stronger. The are set to release their first record in 3 years and also overcome a number of delays that have plagued them since mid-2002. By the way, expect Fivespeed's Virgin Record release in January 2005. It's going to be great! So, now, from the horses' mouths...

For the past year and a half, Fivespeed has been working on their record that is sceduled for release in January. In the meantime, we have been keeping themselves busy touring and spending time with their families. We have aquired a new member, Shane Addington, formerly of the band Stereotyperider..........You can add anything you want Dave, were about to do our publicity photos with Kevin Scanlon, and we have been working on artwork with Jason Farrell. The mix of the record will be done by Joe Barresi. Our hopes are all high.....jared

Ok, so Jared said I can chime in, so I will. Fivespeed primarily recorded their record in Canada with a producer they chose (I'll get that name soon). They've done a lot of mixing at studios along the West Coast, often in LA (I'll try to get some studio names too). Kevin Scanlon is a good friend of all of ours. He does great work. I'm sure you've seen a lot of his band shots without knowing (including a popluar Weezer Tshirt) Jason Farrell is also a good friend. He has done some amazing layouts in his day, including the "Trade In Your Halo" record. He's also worked with Fugazi, At the Drive-In, Burning Airlines, and a number of other great bands, including a bunch of Sunset Alliance stuff and of course his own bands Bluetip and Retisonic. You should email him if you want great art. Fivespeed was signed by Virgin Records in mid-2002 and have since written a great deal of material, toured with Finch a few times and did the Warped Tour. Sunset Alliance received a nice check for their efforts in behalf of Fivespeed. We are also able to sell the remaining copies of "...Halo", as well as continue to make the older releases available. Working with the guys in Fivespeed has been great, and of course we always wish them the best. Anyway, that's all I have to add right now; just a little background. We'll get you an album title for their record asap. I'll also try to see if we can post some working images of the artwork that is being cooked up. Check back soon and often for more steamy details. xo. dave.

"This Phoenix based band, Fivespeed has released a six song CD on Sunset Alliance. Upbeat poppy emo-rock, but more rock than emo. Along the lines of Lazycain, or maybe the Revelation post hardcore bunch (Texas Is The Reason, Farside etc.) After many requests for this CD, we finally got it in. I can see this band getting pretty big, be on the lookout for them." -Lumberjack Distribution

"enough dynamics to make The Pixies go home, pack up, and start writing crappy solo albums." -Punk News

The current line up for Fivespeed (after Chad Kinney relocated to Seven Storey, and now Redfield-) has been maliciously rockin since December 1997. Another drum change was made when Chad Martin relocated to Batter the Drag. The group's years of experience coupled with a genuine enthusiasm for playing, create a well polished, yet strikingly raw sound. Fivespeed come together to form a band that is able to deliver a multifaceted attack and a stunningly powerful live performance. The band had previously released a s/t EP, and have been featured on a number of compilations as well. Now joining forces with Andherson (SF, CA) and Before Braille (Mesa, AZ) for this Triplesplit.

Fivespeed have really made waves of late, and catalyst "Trade In Your Halo", has to demand much of the credit. These 11 aggressive tracks weave in an out of reconciliation to provide guilt free musical tyranny. Since releasing this record, Fivespeed have signed to a deal with Virgin, joined the ranks of the Warped Tour, and raised the eyebrows of many. With enough edge to make hardcore lovers submit, and enough art to allow the indie hierarchy to approve, One might admonish an angel to "Trade In Your Halo" for a copy of this record. This review is total overboard. my bad.
