Back to top Andherson -----
Andherson is considered one of the great bands in the mid-late 90's wave of independent rock from the Phoenix area which included Seven Storey Mountain, Pine Wyatt, Carrier, and survivors Jimmy Eat World. After re-locating to Southern California for a couple years, Andherson returned to the Valley of the Sun with songs and a plan to release a full length album on Sunset Alliance in 2002. Those plans changed as the the members of Andherson and Nikademus went on to comprise the fast-paced, working rock band- The Train Of Thought. The band parted ways when the boys moved to other states. The remaining AZ member, Matt Anderson, is a film student and busy writing music scoring his own films/projects. Rumor has it, Matt is jamming with Before Braille to help fill the bass position recently vacated. Some of Andherson's best work can be found on Triplesplit Series I with Fivespeed and Before Braille, as well as a featured song on Chapter VI of the Deep Elm compilation series.

Back to top Before Braille -----
Before
Braille is an independent rock band that calls Mesa, Arizona home. Together
for closing in on four years, the group's energetic, individualistic and
emotive sound has been called "480 area core" or "Mesa Rock".
Before Braille defines their name after their dependence on the music,--the
sound--taking things a song at a time. The band is a truly functional collective,
with everybody contributing ideas, resulting in a a more textured and creative
output. 2001 marked the band's first release...A local compilation supporting
the independent minded venue, Modified Arts, entitled "Not One Light
Red: A Modified Document". It was a joint release between Sunset Alliance
and fellow Phoenix imprint This Argonaut Records. Later that year they were
featured on Deep Elm's compilation series, as well as a Triplesplit release
with friends Fivespeed and Andherson where they contributed 3 new songs.
In the Spring of 2002, their self-titled, five-song promo EP drew critical
raves, prompting CMJ to write, "This foursome delivers a positively
commanding performance that belays its relatively recent appearance on the
radar. Each track on this sampler of songs from the upcoming full-length
is brimming with texture and taste. Released September '02, that very full-length,
the band's first album The Rumor - featuring the first single "Twenty
Four Minus Eighteen" - entered the college radio charts at #1 its first
week out, making for an auspicious out-of-the-box-debut. Their lo-fi attitude
and high-intensity music fully intact. Before Braille greeted 2003 with
continuous touring Feb-July, and will remain playing sporatic dates around
the country throughout the year while working on the next full length. Although
a couple member changes were made, expect the same kind of intensity and
complexity on their upcoming releases...especially if you agree with the
Arizona Republic who named Before Braille as the best band in Arizona for
2003. 2004 will be marked by 2 Before Braille releases. The first will be
a 7-song release on Sunset Alliance Records titled "Cattle Punching
on a Jack Rabbit." The release can be expected in Feb. The second will
be a 10+ song event titled "Kill the Messenger, Keep the Message"
and can be expected later in the year. The label supporting that release
has not been specified.

Back to top The Bled -----
Those who are a part of the "underground scene" have always been respected and considered as a member of an extended family. Musical acts are birthed and raised in this cherished environment, where everyone is protected and appreciated by one another. In this fast-paced, cut-throat business, one would find it bizarre that a whole sub-culture of innovative and obscure independent bands exist. Only until now, has the world finally embraced the genre known for it's tough exterior. The Bled are here and have been waiting for the world all along. Hailing from the once quiet desert town of Tucson, Arizona, The Bled exploded onto the hardcore/metal circuit in 2001. Their first release was through a now defunct label called Ride the Rocket Records, where a young lady made a request to have Sunset Alliance help with the promotion and distribution of the "His First Crush E.P.". Ride the Rocket quickly crashed, and the remnents of that release are scattered about, mostly gobbled up by hungry fans. The Bled has sense moved on with their intense live performances along side bands like Dillinger Escape Plan, Norma Jean, Midtown, Bane, Converge, and Recover, they were able to make a name for themselves within their local music scene. Bringing about a mature sound that clearly exceeds their age as a band, The Bled, following the road less traveled by, is now clearing a path for those yet to come. Releases like "Ok, But This Is How It Really Happened" and "Pass the Flask" are strongly influenced by their predecessors and holding true to the ideals and values bequeathed unto them, The Bled have invented their own twists to a style so lastingly respected. The Bled, inspired by bands like Converge, Refused and Radiohead, are an electrifyingly brutal five-piece outfit. Those on the outside are no longer just looking in; they're trying to be accepted into one of the most dynamic musical families the industry has ever encountered. www.thebled.net www.fiddlerrecords.com thebledkill@hotmail.com

Back to top Fivespeed -----
The
current line up for Fivespeed (after Chad Kinney relocated to Seven Storey-they
rock!-) has been maliciously rockin since December 1997. The group's years
of experience coupled with a genuine enthusiasm for playing, create a well
polished, yet strikingly raw sound. Fivespeed come together to form a band
that is able to deliver a multifaceted attack and a stunningly powerful
live performance. The band have previously released a s/t EP, and have been
featured on compilations as well as Triplesplit Series I. Their first full
length will surely solidify them as one of the premier indie rock bands
in the country.
"This Phoenix based band, Fivespeed has released a six song CD on Sunset Alliance. Upbeat poppy emo-rock, but more rock than emo. Along the lines of Lazycain, or maybe the Revelation post hardcore bunch (Texas Is The Reason, Farside etc.) After many requests for this CD, we finally got it in. I can see this band getting pretty big, be on the lookout for them." -Lumberjack Distribution "enough dynamics to make The Pixies go home, pack up, and start writing crappy solo albums." -Punk News [Check out some info on What's Our Dilemma- the song featured on Deep Elm's Emo Diaries Chapter IV, "An Ocean of Doubt"]
Fivespeed
have really made waves of late, and catalyst "Trade In Your Halo",
has to demand much of the credit. These 11 aggressive tracks weave in an
out of reconciliation to provide guilt free musical tyranny. Since releasing
this record, Fivespeed have signed to a deal with Virgin, joined the ranks
of the Warped Tour, and raised the eyebrows of many. With enough edge to
make hardcore lovers submit, and enough art to allow the indie hierarchy
to approve, "Trade In Your Halo" will make believers out of us
all. Fivespeed is currently in Canada working on a full length release for
Virgin Records.

Back to top The Go Reflex -----
The
Go Reflex is the brainchild of Bob Hoag, former songwriter of the Tempe,
AZ indie-rock/power pop band Pollen (Wind-Up Entertainment/Fueled By Ramen
Records) with fellow Pollen-er Kevin Scanlon. This four piece is what you
would get if Jimmy Eat World, Radiohead, and Ben Folds all got in a car
crash…intricate pop songs on a piano through a Marshall half-stack
along with blaring guitars played at incredibly loud volume. Phosphate Antigen
is The Go Reflex's self-released EP which is available now by way of the
band. The five songs received very high marks everywhere it was reviewed
and is considered among the best in the Arizona independent community. A
full length, hopefully released by sunset alliance, is in the works and
should be expected sometime in 2004. Bob Hoag is also the highly touted,
essentric engineer who is responsible for what respected local publication
EV Tribune's The Get Out, listed as 4 of the 10 best AZ releases in 2002.
Bob was also at the controls for great records from Recover, The Impossibles,
The Bled, The Aeffect, Limbeck, as well as many Sunset Alliance bands. see
here: www.flyingblanket.com
It must also be mentioned that Aaron, bassist for tGR fronts an intelligent
pop 3-piece with acoustic guitar, Glockenspiel, Xylophone, and a modest
drum kit...much like what can be found among the great bands of Elephant
6. It's called Goldrush Murders. Go to www.thegoreflex.com
to see what other project Bob and friends have their hands in. Be sure to

skillz.)
