Provo,
UT based 4-some may make the listener think of a more alert Tristeza/Pele
soundscape of intuitive structures, sparse vocals, and captivating arrangements.
The most reliable rock review in Arizona said this: "It's not every
indie-rock band that would have the courage to challenge modern attention
spans with six-minute slabs of instrumental "emo", but The Player
Piano pull it off with flying colors, drawing the listener into a blizzard
of chiming guitars and sizzling cymbals perfect for headphone listening or
long car rides. Fans of [American Football], Christie Front Drive and Boy's
Life have plenty to look forward to in The Player Piano. - Phillip Price,

reviews:
Anthem Magazine: Who would have thought that five boys from Utah could
compose a record such as this. I caught this band by accident recently and
was impressed not only by their affinity for melody, but by their attention
to detail. The songs on this album rise and fall in such a pleasant manner
that when it comes to an end, all I want is more. It has remained in my
cd player since I bought it and I don't see it going anywhere soon. This
may be a hard record to find, but it's worth searching out. The quality
of the artwork is enough to merit buying this album.
Fake Jazz: My biggest complaint with most instrumental bands is that they
lack a strong enough melody to hold my interest. Not the case with The Player
Piano, the two guitars play off of each creating melody lines the weave in
and out and always keep your attention. The Player Piano also has really interesting
dynamic, tempo, and rhythm changes that really draw you into the song. Another
interesting element on the record was the addition of Rob Bird on keys. His
parts really add texture and contrast the pretty guitar melodies. I definitely
recommend picking this album up. I would hurry too. The first 1000 CDs printed
come with really cool dye cut cardboard inserts. -Wade Chamberlain

Back to top Stereotyperider-----
A
young band who is loved and admired by some of the most influential hardcore
bands around, IS a great band. And if that young band also tours with those
trend setters, then it would have to be true to say that 'said' band is
now setting the new trend. Stereotyperider is that band, and if you really
are
'hip', you will need to get on and off the bandwagon before everyone else
does. You can do that by purchasing Stereotyperider 'Fairweatherfan', their
first release. This EP is what kicked off the existence of Sunset Alliance
Records and is chalked full of some of the most inventive songs of turmoil
you can find. All 7 of these tracks ride a fence of melody and aggression
while finding original territory. Buy this if you're fans of...the Suicide
Machines, Big Wig, Ensign, International Noise Conspiracy, etc...because
those are some of the bands who Stereotyperider has toured with and they
are telling
you to. "I don`t think too many bands from the late 90`s or the first
few years of the new millennium have been memorable or even good for that
matter. But [Stereotyperider] is amazing! And should be considered legendary.
Hopefully people will be listening to it 10 or 20 years down the road.
I hate to make comparisons because they sound nothing like any of the bands
I`m about
to list. I just think people who like these bands will love this: Sonic
Youth, Seaweed, Husker Du.' - Jason Navarro (The Suicide Machines) -Find
the new
Stereotyperider record on Suburban Home. It's just as good as 'Fairweatherfan'
and it's causing waves. Look for Stereotyperider...they're constantly on
tour and they may be coming to you soon.

Back to top RedField -----
Redfield
is one of the founding fathers of Sunset Alliance. They are also one
of the cornerstones of the amazing hardcore/rock scene in Phoenix. 'Born
To
Rock' is to Redfield as 'Born To Run' is to Springsteen. This full length
is full of turbulent rock movements and emotive vocals that make you
mad enough to smash a hole through a wall, but sensitive enough to make
it a
new door. Redfield was rated the top 15 "unsigned" bands in the
country by Rolling Stone, and this record is why. This record is not
metal, it is not hardcore, it is not punk, and it is not screamo, but it
feeds
off the best aspect of each of those genres and subgenres. "Lost Sight",
Redfield's second Sunset Alliance release is more of a refined Redfield.
Lost Sight shows the growth in songwriting between now and 'Born To Rock'.
The recording is quite raw, but the record went through it's pressing
quite quickly. Only a limited number of copies remain. Redfield is now on
Grave
9 Records (gravenine.com) and being hunted down by a number of major
labels.

Back to top The Go Reflex -----
The
Go Reflex is the brainchild of Bob Hoag, former songwriter of the Tempe,
AZ indie-rock/power pop band Pollen (Wind-Up Entertainment/Fueled By Ramen
Records)
with fellow Pollen-er Kevin Scanlon. This four piece is what you would
get if Jimmy Eat World, Radiohead, and Ben Folds all got in a car crash…intricate
pop songs on a piano through a Marshall half-stack along with blaring guitars
played at incredibly loud volume. Phosphate Antigen is The Go Reflex's
self-released EP which is available now by way of the band. The five songs
received very
high marks everywhere it was reviewed and is considered among the best
in the Arizona independent community. A full length, possibly released by
yours
truly, is in the works and should be expected in the spring. Bob Hoag is
also the highly touted, essentric engineer who is responsible for what respected
local publication listed as 4 of the 10 best AZ releases in 2002. Bob was
also at the controls for great records from Recover, The Impossibles, The
Bled, The Aeffect, Limbeck, as well as many Sunset Alliance bands. see
here:
www.flyingblanket.com It must also be mentioned that Aaron, bassist for
tGR fronts an intelligent pop 3-piece with acoustic guitar, Glockenspiel,
Xylophone,
and a modest drum kit...much like what can be found among the great bands
of Elephant 6. Go to www.thegoreflex.com to see what other project Bob
and friends have their hands in.

Back to top The Bled -----
Those
who are a part of the "underground scene" have always been respected
and considered as a member of an extended family. Musical acts are birthed
and raised in this cherished environment, where everyone is protected and
appreciated by one another. In this fast-paced, cut-throat business, one
would find it bizarre that a whole sub-culture of innovative and obscure
independent bands exist. Only until now, has the world finally embraced
the genre known for it's tough exterior. The Bled are here and have been
waiting for the world all along. Hailing from the once quiet desert town
of Tucson, Arizona, The Bled exploded onto the hardcore/metal circuit in
2001. Their first release was through a now defunct label called Ride the
Rocket Records, where a young lady made a request to have Sunset Alliance
help with the promotion and distribution of the "His First Crush E.P.".
Ride the Rocket quickly crashed, and the remnents of that release are scattered
about, mostly gobbled up by hungry fans. The Bled has sense moved on with
their intense live performances along side bands like Dillinger Escape Plan,
Norma Jean, Midtown, Bane, Converge, and Recover, they were able to make
a name for themselves within their local music scene. Bringing about a mature
sound that clearly exceeds their age as a band, The Bled, following the
road less traveled by, is now clearing a path for those yet to come. Releases
like "Ok, But This Is How It Really Happened" and "Pass the
Flask" are strongly influenced by their predecessors and holding true
to the ideals and values bequeathed unto them, The Bled have invented their
own twists to a style so lastingly respected. The Bled, inspired by bands
like Converge, Refused and Radiohead, are an electrifyingly brutal five-piece
outfit. Those on the outside are no longer just looking in; they're trying
to be accepted into one of the most dynamic musical families the industry
has ever encountered. www.thebled.net www.fiddlerrecords.com thebledkill@hotmail.com
